Tell her you love her…

The words, "I love you" may be the toughest three words to say, especially if you are proposing to your dear dear loved one! What if he/she is not impressed by your overture? Or worse, what if he/she (Most probably she)  wants to just "be friends?"
Stop agonizing over the outcome of your proposal. It is better to say, "I love you" and face rejection than regret when you turn 50 *How dramatically bollywoodish of me to say that*. Moreover, you will know once and for all, whether your relationship is headed in the right direction. Its the only chance you've got plus its the best if its on Vday ! Guess why ? Because she might be expecting you to propose and at least won't bhai-zone friend zone you! She is sure to know you are dedicating a love song or baking a cake on a Vday because you definitely have feelings for her!
These are the 5 bold ways I would have wished him to propose in Winking smile

1.Bake a cake for me with the three magical words etched on em : You hardly see men cook for women in India forget baking a cake ! That is what makes this kind of a proposal special !And if cake is not your thing and you think it would turn all bad go for cupcakes ! They are much easier to bake  :P

2. The newspaper way : Its always good to go crazy because hey women like crazy okay ?;-)If she is the newspaper love kind of woman you have to go for this method ! I mean common its so unique :P Imagine the shock, surprise, happiness she would be to find her name and photograpgh with the best selfie smile flash on the front cover of Valentine's day edition of newspapers ! Flipping the pages of the Morning Newspaper and finding an Ad saying " Now Everyone Knows, please say yes <3 " That has got to be so cute ! But that needs a lot of guts ! Are you bold enough to print your love out? ;)

3.Bollywoodish: Anyone who is deep into Bollywood and tele serial trauma would confess of some point in their life wanting their dream man to sit on a snow white horse , ride on it and then come over to her and propose just like she dreamt in her dreams ;-)riding a white horse, coming to me and then proposing me..riding a white horse, coming to me and then proposing me ...haaaye the bollywood way ;')
4.Ring affair:Over A Regular Dinner at our favorite restaurant, showing me a ring, and asking "Was Wondering if this fits you" <3  Or the classic old 'Will you marry me?' *How romantic* ^-^

5. Surprise dedication: Give her a surprise visit with flowers and chocolates (Don't you dare forget these two essentials-.- ) Or call her at a surprising time and tell her to switch on the radio station on which you just called and dedicated a song that will give her the hints or warning bells or best of all Propose publicly on air ! Byheart some hard bound sweet poetry and bakowify on air and tada she'll be yours ! Don't forget to ask her out on a date on air when she says she needs time to think on the whole thing!

Raising healthy happy kids. Healthy child = Happy home.

The greatest gifts a parent can give to their children when it comes to health are the roots of good habits and instill the benefits of healthy eating in them.

Parents instill healthy habits in their children from time to time until they are young.

My parents where always strict when it came to health. My mom would do her very best to cook whatever we wanted at home using the best of healthy resources. My dad used to take us out for a walk during weekdays.Me and my sisters had a very healthy upbringing. Hence it has been our top most priority to instill the same good habits and healthy lifestyle instincts in our kids too.

Its been a year and half since  my elder sister gave birth to a cute lil angel who I am so VERY fond of. He has been the cradle of happiness since his birth and every single time he falls sick the whole house falls flat. Its like the laughter is quite dead , there would be no shouting and happy wali screaming. At times it would look like the home would mourn for the joy it just lost with a lil kids falling ill and not running around.

My sister has already planned of all the healthy foods, nutritious meals and snacks she is going to include in my one and a half year old nephew. Ever since the little bundle of joy fell sick my parents ie the kids grandparents , his mom (my sis) and his dad started planning better hygiene surroundings and  incorporate even better healthy food habits into his daily routine to help him develop habits that would last a lifetime. I am sure with all this planning and extra care my lil nephew will grow up to be an incredibly loving , healthy and happy child.

It is so very true that when a child is injured or sick the whole of the family goes dead sick with worry and I wish no child in the whole world to have an unhealthy lifestyle. Kids are the big and small joys of a home. They make a home a complete home and a happy home.

I myself have felt deep sadness and sorrow when he suffered from pneumonia attack when he was 9 months old. It is very important that a child is healthy or the whole of the house goes ill with the child too.

Children need to be treasured by their families and they must feel they are special and irreplaceable. Families provide children with a sense of belonging and a unique identity. When a child falls sick the whole family suffers. Kids no matter how small or big , are a source of emotional support and comfort, warmth and happiness and laughter and joy.

My beloved brother,Borosil and Barfi’s !

“Mummy mujhe pumpkin chahiye hi chahiye ,pumpkin kheer uski favorite hai , aap toh jaanti hai na!” I nearly shouted in frustration
It was one of my favorite day ! Rakshbandhan ! The day that stood for celebrating the chaste and subtle bond of love and affection between a brother and his sister.
On this day, I would get up early, take bath and pray for the goodwill, health and prosperity of my beloved brothers.
I would force my mom to run to the market and buy all ingredients to prepare delicious cuisine specially for my brother. the cuisine included sweets and delicacies my brother was fond off and I made sure it satisfied their taste buds.
Everytime I would put heart and soul in preparing the dishes with a little help from my mom and put a little extra effort to design the food beautifully in serve ware.
But this time something had changed, last year during Rakshabandhan my beloved brother had gifted me Borosil appliances, gifted me what my heart had always craved for!
At first I had teased him saying” you bought these so I could serve you dishes in this, this is a gift for yourself, I need more”
I could only smile at the thought. One year had passed by and the bond between us had grown even more stronger, this year he had stood up for me when no one had , afterall brothers are god’s most beautiful gift to a girl!
After I had thrown in a fit for the pumpkin to be bought over, my mom had sped off to the market to be back with three large pumpkins !
Finally I looked happily at the sight of various dishes I had cooked, On beautiful see through round dishes from Borosil sat plump round perry cherry laddoos, hot piping pumpkin kheer garnished with lots of nuts lay in fascinating gourmet sets from Borosil.Scrumptious recipes prepared by me on this occasion always put a grin on my foodie brothers face, and I couldn’t wait to present all my hardwork on the table so that my brother could relish  these delicious items.
His most favorite dishes were Khoya burfis and Pumkin kheer and choco fruit curd. Tender coconuts grated into thickened milk and chamchami on the rhemoid shaped burfis looked oh so delicious, flavoursome kheer with almonds and pistachios swimming in the sea of pumpkin juices could water any sane saints mouth, choco fruit curd in a oval casserole looked as fascinating as the perry cherry laddoos which sat next to it. Overall the table was filled with beautiful food served in beautifully gifted Boorosil glassware which I had inherited from my beloved brother! Finally loooking at my scrumptious handiwork my mom shook her hea and I could see a smile lifting in the corners of her mouth. She mumbled something but I only registered the words “Mujhe kabhi aise paka kar nahi khilaye, lekin apne bhayi ke do jahan kurbaan…” .
I was very excited after setting up the table, it was for a special someone, and when he finally dropped in at home after half an hour, there was boyish grin on his face which spoke of accolades on its own. After I had finished tying a spectacular rakhee on his arm , I demanded my gift to be given right then and there.
His mischievous grin felt warm and inviting , like home. But the icing of the cake was when we he actually stood open mouthed looking at the arrangement on the table. clean and neat, lilies in a vase, matar pulao served in rectangular Borosil dishes along with chicken malai kofta in bowl sets all gifted from him !
One second he stood there gaping at the food, next second I was being strangled in his embrace ! He had actually hugged the life out of me.
And when he finally released I swear I had seen those beautiful dark brown eyes moisten a little, but men are too fast to hide their emotions. My first thought was God! Its just food, but when I gave it another thought, I knew I wasn’t correct , it was just not food , it was love, hope and sweetness rolled into the beautiful food. And  It was so much more.
Within no time it was time to say goodbye, I wish my brother could stay a little longer, but he had board a train. But this time he wasn’t leaving alone, he had memories full of sweet Burfi’s , the beautiful food his sister had cooked, the beautiful appliances that had beamed happily at him, he had so much more to take along with him.
It was the happiest ending for a rakshabandhan.

Putting a full stop to water woes! Portable water to the masses!

Water shortage has always been a problem in India.

Almost many states have suffered due to water crisis.
Such one state is Rajhastan . Though India was historically water rich country we face water problems.
The worst affected are the women.

They are burdened enough with their house hold responsibilities and to add more to their burden is the water problem.
I have often watched my mom fret over water not ler by the Kaveri water supplier.
She is so stressed "Building mein pani nahi hai" " Ab kaise kya hoga"Running all over to the third floor to check if there's even a lil bit of water left in the tanks. As a child I hardly understood her pains.
Water is necessary for personal hygiene,  household cleanliness, as well as daily consumption needs.
This is what Miss Cynthiya Koenig puts light on.The women of India being burdened and distressed over water issues. How it affects their success and lives.

Women wasting 25% of their time fetching water to their homes in pots held on their heads which also leads to weakening of shoulder and damage to brain. This traditional method is too dangerous for women.
Why waste 6 hours over fetching water? Women are far more better than fetching water thgroughout their life.To add it teenage girls aged between 13-16 dropping out of school as they have water shortage at home and they are given responsibility of fetching water.

This water crisis leads them not to waste water to wash hands , further leading to affect their personal hygiene causing many chronic diseases.
Carrying heavy loads on heads, waiting in queues for long periods of time...
If there was just a simple way to carry water without wasting so much time, if only there was a way girls couldn't miss their education...
The problem is not small. It is way more bigger than one can imagine.

Then there is this ubercool solution.
The water transportation tool designed by Miss Cynthiya Koenig  is a gift for rural women who want to do more valuable things with their time.
The Waterwheel,(Water transportation tool) a 20-gallon drum that moves four to five times the amount of water possible using traditional methods of collection and carrying. This way the women don't have to run all the way and carry huge loads everyday!
The fact that it is nonprofit organization to help distribute a locally available easy water transportation method.
Using this method would solve most of health and socioeconomic problems of our country .
This would lead to better sanitation.

But it is also important that the most needy should be searched and the tool be handed to them.
Too many fraudsters roam in India.

This tool can benefit nearly millions of Indian women. It has a postivie impact on the lives of young Indian women.

A drive that changed Me.

It was cloudy day, so much had happened in the last few months.
After grand dad's death 3 months back I din't feel like returning to my native ever.
He meant so much to me and his death had left me shattered.

I was a strong person.
Sitting back and mourning was not me.
His memories , I will always cherish.it was time to move forward.
I shared a close relationship with him.he was like a dad to me.

everything that made me sad , I had to sell that off and when I got a call from his place stating he had left his dear farms and land to me. I just wanted to sell them and get over with it.
I clearly had no attachment to the farms and agriculture unlike dada.He was too fond of them.

I was called in person to sign the papers and sell the lands. I packed my bags.
The next day I took of to the town with my bestie .I was fond of cars and granddad had gifted this one .
Among many cousins he loved me the most and I loved him.
He loved travelling, farming, and he loved cars.

On my way to the town I came across farms and fields. Cows grazed. Goats and sheep lazily chewed grass.
Farmers laughed and smoked .
My other companion my bestie insisted she drove for a while. I was more than happy to hand her the wheel.
The serene beauty of the plain farms suddenly made me think of dada.
After a few hours we stopped to eat a motel.

We roamed the farms.it was just like how bollywood portrayed songs.
Women were more than happily planting saplings
There were swings on trees.
We ate sugar cane secretly.I was falling in love. With the farms.
Kids were throwing stones to get mangoes down.I joined them.
There was lake a little far. Me and Dhannu(bestie) threw few pebbles and shouted names in the calm waters which echoed all over the farms.
It had turned into a beautiful journey.
For a moment I wanted to be the girl I was not since many years,.
That is when I realised what I was missing.

The moment we reached the town I simply threw away the farm sale papers.
I have 2 acres of land now.
Which have mango trees in them.
This journey was my most memorable one.
From nothing to content and happiness.

The Day I Went Straight...

It was my sis's wedding....and while my sis was fussing over which hairstyle she should choose for her embellished lehenga-choli attire,I was having my own worries. I was going to wear a beautiful Kashish designer Anarkali which would surely give me the look of the 'pretty dulhan ki behan'. I was totally looking forward to straightening my hair. I wanted to accessorize my hair with a chic mang mehendi and leave the strands loose_something like the pic below:

I had longed to do my hair in this way for a long time and what's more of a bahana then your own sis's wedding???!!! So you can't imagine how happy I was when mum gave me her permission and said I could temporarily straighten my hair before the wedding!:):):):)

So the day before the wedding I was all set to set my hair straight and went to the nearest salon available. Even before I could enter,I got a call from mum_there was a problem_she wanted me to come home immediately_oops!!!  It turned out that guests from abroad had already reached the hotel where the wedding was going to be held and we had to go there immediately. It was a total mess up!  I had not got my hair straightened yet and I was afraid that my dream hairdo would just remain a dream :(.................

It was amidst all the tension and excitement of the wedding that I got this crazy idea!! It was 2:00pm on the night before the wedding and my cousins were playing antakshari in my hotel room. Everyone was enjoying and having fun while I was sitting in a corner and giving envious looks to all my cousins' straight hair and pulling a long face:-(

The phone rung and as none of my cousins bothered to pick it up,I picked it up.It was dad and he wanted us to stop partying and go to bed. When I kept the receiver back, I saw it_ around five big fat phone directories were lying on the highly polished floor of the hotel room_BINGO!!

I knew it was weird and crazy but as long as it gave me straight hair, I was ready to give it a try....So when all went quite and even the future bride next to me was fast asleep, I carried those bulky directories to my bed side, two at a time(they were too heavy!). Then I combed my hair nicely and  spread them on my right hand side like a sheet and placed those bulky directories on my wavy hair.

Then praying hard I closed my eyes and slept.I was woken up by my hysteric sis in the morning who had unfortunately woken up early and witnessed the weird sight of the books on my hair! She wore the 'girl what's got in to you'  type of look on her face. She demanded for an explanation and I sang my sad story to her(after all your sisters are your best friends!)...First she couldn't control her laughter but then her face turned serious and she gave me the best of her smiles(the one she gives me when she admires me_my favorite smile:)) She hugged me tight and asked me to look at myself in the mirror.........I turned and.............GOSH.........IMPOSSIBLE!!!!!!!............... SLEEK STRAIGHT HAIR!!..... IT HAD WORKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.............. I was beyond myself...finally my wish had come true_thanks to those directories!!!

So after my crazy hair experiment I looked something like the pick below on the wedding day:.....FULTOSS GORGEOUS WITH STRAIGHT HAIR:

And now I sing:
I got straight hair yay yay yay!
I din't use a straightener nor any hair spray,
all those nasty knots are at bay
I got straight hair yay yay yay!
It wasn't tough, it was child's play,
all those curls have gone away
I got straight hair yay yay yay!
they are glam,they are gorgeous,
luscious and straight all the way,
I got straight hair yay yay yay!
